Benoit Tousignant, 40 years of age. High-school teacher since ten years. Cycling enthusiast since we can remember, avid adventurer seeking new discoveries and new encounters. Member of the Cent cols club (France). |
Since he was young, adventure was serious, not just a game. Benoit started touring by bike before it was "in." You should have seen his equipment!!
“Slowly but surely, my horizon extended I traveled more and more. Soon, what seemed earlier to be an exploit became a simple excursion. Fear of the unknown diminished with each trip. Now, I need a project capable of pushing my personal limits to a new level. What else but traveling around the world?” -B.T.
In my teens, each summer I toured on my bike, traveling to see ??.
First trip outside the American continent, for one month.
I would receive and host European tourists in my house in L'Islet-sur-Mer.
Five-weeks trip passing by Gaspé, New Brunswick, PEI and finally reaching Halifax.
Tour of Nova Scotia, following the legendary Cabot Trail and then taking two weeks for the trip home to Saint-Polycarpe.
Crossing the province from east to west and then taking the asphalted roads of Labrador. A hard trip: I was isolated in remote regions infested with flies and mosquitoes.
Tree months a half of riding. Corsica, Sardinia, Sicily even taking then Italian peninsula up to Alps. I toured Switzerland "la vallée du Rhin" up to the Netherlands and Belgium.
I crossed the Alps from north to south and from east to west! The majority of the passes were reached (from the Galibier to the Slevio). This trip enabled me to visit France, Switzerland, the north of Italy and Austria.
I saw Alsace-Lorraine, the mountains of Jura and the Vosges, then once again crossed the Alps; to conclude this wonderful trip I rode in Provence and the vallé du Rhône.
